Take the dog for a stroll

People and children are everywhere

Smiling in the fresh air

Sometimes there is a funfair

'Look up,Look up'

 John Willits had a wish to fly round the moon.

Above all,he wanted see UFO'S and meet aliens.

He wanted to meet the aliens he had seen on the small and the big screen.

He wanted to be an explorer and go further than his back garden.

Look up! Look up! he said with dreamy eyes.

He imagined new worlds and far away galaxies.

On his birthday,his mum made a space rocket cake and rented a space cadet suit.

He was having a party and everyone was invited,his neighbours,

His school friends,Sunday school friends and even an entertainer!

When they opened their invitations their eyes became big and sparkly.

Everyone was so delighted!!!

The day before John had decorated the house and filled the party bags with a sugar mouse.

And on the day,John helped put up the balloons and practiced dancing to party tunes.

He filled up plates with jelly sweets and biscuits,golden coins and pirate riches!

He put on his space cadet suit and his sister put on fairytale princess dress.

Look up!Look up!He said 

Some superheroes are flying into the room!We have a red cape ,a black cape

and a spider suit.There is a wizard,a pirate,a cowboy,a space toy and a dinosaur!!

A rabbit,a little frog ,a runaway croc and a unicorn with a little dog.

Suddenly the door bell rang and there stood a mystery man.

They played musical chairs,and musical statues,musical bumps and ate marshmallows from 

a chocolate fountain. 

When they played pass the parcel and everyone won a glow stick.

They wished it was dark outside so they could see them light up.

All the party food was placed on the dining room table,everyone  gathered round the cake,a

Spaceship cake lit up with six candles

The room went dark and John made a wish to fly into Space.

Look up,Look up he shouted!!!

Suddenly a light came in from the window.It was a real spaceship in his back garden!!

John and his friends all climbed aboard!!!

They listened for the count down 5-5,4-4,3-3,2-2,1-1 lift off!

There was smoke and fire,they were amazed,the stars shone above them and

They travelled many days to 

'The magic of the moon'

Look Up,Look Up!!!John said 

As they flew past the Northern Lights and brushes of colour filled their eyes.

The children decided to play ‘I Spy’

Look up!Look up! 

They looked through the telescope as they went up and up and high.

They could see a face in the moon.

They wanted to find rocks and collect lunar dust to keep for themselves and hide in their room.

They kept watch for a shooting star and stayed well away from meteors!

They wanted to see a galaxy,to touch it and float without gravity.

Look Up Look Up!!

Each star lit up their face and the earth and the other planets were lit up 

as if they were on stage.

The sun it’s self was the spotlight.When the planets started to fade they said ‘Good Night’.

The children played a game of dot-to-dot as they looked at the constellations.

‘Orion’s belt’,’The Plough’,and ‘The Great Bear’,God's creations.

As they got closer to the moon the landing was quite shakey

but the children arrived bravely.

They opened the hatch,it was ‘One step for a Space cadet’!

’A giant step for the moonettes’!!

When they went for a Spacewalk they wanted to bounce all afternoon.

They wanted to collect a milky way and make a diamond footway.

Could they go to Mars and see a blue sunset?Could they find some aliens and 

Invite them as a guest?

All the children were given spacesuits,a purple suit and looked down on planet Earth.

Suddenly,a little head popped up, and then his friends ‘Hi,I’m Axol

‘We are the moon protectors’!

‘We are like the stars

We are rays of light’!

The children were a little afraid and raised up their glowsticks!

‘We are earthlings,we mean you no harm’.

Axol said:

‘Would you like a guided tour’?!

‘This is our home,we call it ‘Marshmallow Manor’

The children agreed ‘it looks like a bouncy castle,can we come inside’?!

Axol said: ‘Of course you can’

’Would you like a drink of moon cola?’

The children were very happy to meet the aliens,they said

‘Would you like to play together?’

John suggested a game of moonball.

He said ‘Whoever wins takes the moon cup home!

And so it began,they played until the sun went down.

Nobody wanted the day to end.

Axol said:

‘We would love to visit you on planet earth’

They all said:

‘We would love to have you!We could take you round the world in our new ship.

‘We come from a place called England.

There are old monuments to see and we could take you to ‘Buckingham Palace’,where the 

queen lives!

There’s ‘The Eiffel Tower’ and paintings in France.

There's 'Sydney Opera House' and big red rocks in Australia.

In America we could visit New York.The ‘Statue of Liberty’ and ’The Empire State Building’

all lit up at night.

We could fly over to ‘The White House’ and meet ‘The President’.See the beaches in Los 

Angeles!

In Iceland there is The Northern Lights.A rainbow of colours in the sky that look like a 

rainbow of flowing dresses’!

All this chatter made the children and aliens forget they had to say goodbye,the aliens said:

Look up Look up!!

‘Don’t cry we will send you a message in the sky’

However,when they walked back to the spaceship it looked different.It was all iced up!

John turned round to his friends and the aliens and said ‘What has happened’?

‘The hatch will not open’

‘Why is it frozen’?

'Dont worry' Said Axol

‘All we have to do is wait for sunrise’

'But our parents will be worried and miss us'

'Is there another way?'

'Yes you could take a space taxi'!

'It will take you on a guided tour of all the constellations'

'And take you home'

The children had a think and agreed to take the taxi home but first they got back

in their fancy dress.

Waving goodbye to their new friend Axol they arrived back in John's garden.

He told his mum where they had been and she smiled at him and the children.

The children nearly went home and then John remembered the party bags!

They became very excited.In each party bag there was a letter and an extra special 

Gift inside,

A model of Axol and his people straight from the moon.They never forgot their 

space adventure.

They could 'Look up and Look up 'to remember!!!

My dad said to me 

We are going on a trip

All the way to the sea

It's 4.30 in the morning

I know that you are yawning 

But when its still dark there's no-one around

The motorway is empty 

And you can hear the bird sound 

Remember to pack your sunglasses 

And the sun cream

Remember to pack the flipflops 

Let's work as a team

We can have some music on

We can have a sing

You can be the navigator 

Its so exciting!!!

You may ask Are we there yet?

May we have some ice cream?

All in good time my dear 

I am not being mean

As we get nearer to the sea

You can already see the seagulls flying by

You hope that the waves are rolling really high

You hope you can have a picnic of sandwiches and pie

When you look across the lambs are in the field

The motorway is so fast but we are counting 

We hope we have brought the potty

Or it will be a nature wee!

I hope we don't get travel sick 

Pass a bag quickly!!!

We will watch the other cars go past

Give them a wave and pass around the flask

The sun is shining in the window

I am thinking of ice cream sundaes that are totally sinful!

I have been dreaming of a valley 

And trees made of chocolate flake

This is the perfect summer

Lot's of friends to make 

I dream of clotted cream fudge 

It is an outing to heaven

Cream teas are a total joy

I say thankyou to Devon!!

I have brought a bucket and spade  

And lots of 2ps for the arcade

I am hoping to meet a mermaid 

I really look cool in my cap and shades

When we get to our destination 

We will run to the beach,

Feel our hearts beat 

And delve into our imaginations!

I am hoping at our hotel

They will give us colouring books 

I dream of sitting at the dinner table

Eating chicken nuggets

I love the dessert trolley!!

Watching it being rolled towards me

I am having the chocolate cake

And I am finishing my plate!!!

Outside there'll be bluebells

We will go to the beach and

Looks for seashells to collect

Go deep with our flashlight

We will have bacon in the morning on some 

Doorstep bread!!!

Open the window and feel the spring breeze

As our noses turn bright red!

Whoever get the milk first will get the cream!

Whoever gets to the beach first will lay the blanket clean

There will be a carousel and a Ferris wheel

Lot's of rock and sticky dummies 

And crowds of people with ice creams

A picnic of sandwiches and a slice of quiche 

We will dig a big hole on the beach!!!

When the sea is coming in

The fish are gliding

The treasure is hiding

The children are donkey riding 

We will pick some fruit 

After the motorway

We will travel on a seafront route

Mum will cover us up in sun cream

We will look for pools and little streams

We will hold hands and search for rocks

Look at the sea and watch the yachts 

We will draw our names in the sand

Hide in the sand dunes all afternoon 

Get freckles in the sun and go barefoot

To the food and drinks hut

We will meet some girls

We will meet some boys

We will tickle each others toes

We will find a stick

Draw a heart and take a photo of it

We will find a shell and listen

Watch the boats glisten

Put flowers in our hair

Breath in the salty air!!!

Holding hands on the hotel park

Running on the grass 

Sharing our hearts

Go on the swings and catch each other

On the bottom of the slide

We can feed the animals and a ride a horse 

We can buy tinsel wig and puppet

Be Daddy's caddy on the golf course

The swimming pool might be freezing

So dad will go in first

He says after whispering a curse!!!

We will stand there in our armbands and our rubber wings

Then take an almighty jump

And try to swim

On our last holiday 

There was a bouncy castle at the pub 

And a playground made out of tree wood

We put our best dresses on and

Had a dance at the hotel

We had a drink with an umbrella

And twirled round like a carousel

We waited for a chocolate on our pillow

For the biscuits to be replaced 

We ate Cornish pasties and fish and chips

But stayed away from seagulls on the pinch!

Rise up,Rise up

We will go to the market and look at the stalls

Lick our way through a screwball!

Look at silly postcards in the shop

In our illuminous jelly flip-flops

We will go for a walk in woodland

And try to spot a deer

We will go for a family bike ride and 

Remember to steer!!

We will look for rabbits in the hills

Walk quietly and whisper

We will look for flowers for the windowsill

Its what every home does wish for

Let's imagine building a castle and a moat

Building our own little boat

We could chase a beachball down the beach

Have a marshmallow treat!

We could go to Jungle Jim's all day

Smiling,happy lot's of play

There will be balls and a bouncy castle

Someone giving out fruit baskets 

We could go body boarding in a wetsuit

Skip to the beach and go looking for loot!!!

We will visit the amusements

And go on the slot machines

Full of beans
