I just want to take flight
I used to dance under the lights
Now I have voices,my memories are wiped

It’s like everyone is flowering
And I am weathering away but
With a smile
I will grow old

Infinitely suffering
He still keeps muttering

The feeling stirs again

When you feel like everyone you love in your life is saying goodbye
Find somewhere quiet to cry

Pray to your guardian Angel
Forget about the rainfall

If you listen to the birds call
Continue to follow your dreams
And life goals

Life

You told me there would be many doors
You told me people would be loved and adored
But all I found were the sharpest claws
People being cruel and breaking laws

You told me I could travel the world
You told me I was the prettiest girl
But all I found were rotten pearls
Bathwater swallowing me as it swirled

You told me I would meet my prince
You told me I would find my province
But I hated having my hair rinsed
I hated people’s ‘fat hints’

You told me I would find someone good
You told me I would find a bud
But all I did was worry, and
Come home hurt and bloody

You told me music would be my quest
You told me I would be the best
But all I found was laughter and jest
My life was a teary mess
An awful test

You told me I would like school
You told me I would find a jewel
But all they said was I was uncool
Standing over-weight by the swimming pool

You told me God would look after me
You told me to invite my friends for tea
But I came home with scrapped knees
And unsightly bleeds

You told me to hold on to my dreams
Forget about those that were mean
So I just watched ‘The A Team’ and
Felt the sunbeam

A tragic mood
The tears are falling when I am in the nude
People are whispering

A lesson in depression

There is no sun and you feel forgotten
You feel rock bottom
Everything is black ,there are no stars in the sky
You walk alone and you want to die
Bullies and exams, clothes and ‘going out’ plans
I was always left out and praying that suddenly I would be cared about

Watching ‘The A Team’
I remember singing the theme
Mum used to make us burgers and
Drinks from a soda-stream
Good always won in the end
I wanted them to be my friend

Saturday night with a crust!

A diamond in a cave

Blind date
What would I say?
I am a stretchy man
Flexible,Bright,
And I like to make people smile!

It hurts that you’re not in my life
But at least I don’t have to listen to your lies
Even though my heart used to magnetise to you
I didn’t know you had a girlfriend too

I know you used to call
But I don’t think that you would catch my fall
I saw you rise,it made me cry
I thought I had your love ,your soul

Make your cash
Make your splash
Please don’t turn me into ash

Make your mark
Make your spark
Please don’t break my heart

Make your love
Make your buds
Please don’t say I’m not enough

Make your entrance
Make your acceptance
Please don’t leave me in too much silence

Perfect love
That’s worth it love

The Poem

‘The poem with this music is complete’-Claude McKay

Jasmines

It’s a small world

I decided to take a trip to Australia
I was tired of feeling like a failure
My uncle had built a house in Tasmania
I wanted to go walkabout, find bush tucker and dahlia

Some of it was quite familiar
I walked around the market for memorabilia
They still had Special K,Walkers crisps, cadburys factory and Heinz
The kangaroo’s had massive behinds!
I went to an aborigine art gallery, and who should I bump into but Valerie!
I hadn’t seen her in 20 years,we went to school together and
Reminisced with beers!12000 miles away from home!

‘My own sailor hat’

When I was three I had my own sailors hat
There is nothing more cool than that!
My grandad took me to New York
And he showed me where the Titanic would have port

He took me in a Macy’s store
And held my hand on the escalators
He took me to see the statue of Liberty
And taught me all it’s history

We went up the Empire State building
But at first I was unwilling
I looked up at Times Square
Yellow cabs were beeping everywhere

The lights were so bright,I dreamed I could write
For Broadway, for film and stay up all night!
I wanted to sing my little heart out
There were lot’s and lot’s of street performers about

Then we went to McDonalds
It was my favourite place in the world
The weather was really,really hot
We had snowcones and lollypops!

We went into an art gallery and then
The New York State library,borrowing
We watched New Yorkers on the street arguing
The steam rose from above us
The hotels went up so high

This was 1983,I jumped up and down excitedly
Grandad took my picture with a polaroid
I wondered if I would see an asteroid
When I got home I made the New York skyline with
Stickle bricks,
I dreamed of returning and counted the minutes
Maybe I could go on a sleigh with St Nick!
Grandad was in the navy all his life
He showed me the ocean, the horizon and
How to fly a kite

I miss my Grandad

Sweets,chocs,nuts
Is it better than self-harming?
Some people are covered in cuts
Or pluking their guts
Does it feel like no one gives a fuck?
Is that why they mess with their looks?
I eat because life gets too much
It’s an emptiness,a loneliness
A neglect of love
Someone stop me ,I don’t want to self-destruct
The clouds are gathering,I need some luck

The perfect lips
The perfect bum
What are we really running from?

My secret is…….
Not ready to tell!

The World when I’m asleep
Has Angels protecting me from creeps
The World when I’m asleep
Has stars that light up my street
The World when I’m asleep
Has flowers tickling me feet
The World when I’m asleep
Has fairies that stop me weep

Thoughts on tonight

Thoughts on tonight

Alone,they have all gone
And I’m not so young anymore
I have lost my waist and my core
I need an open door
Find someone on the dancefloor
And kiss me pure
I know it’s my weight
You say,I have left it too late?
I am in tears everytime I wake

Thoughts for the week

I must feel chic and find my peak
Find a man I can keep
A man that lets me speak
Gives me courage to take a leap
I just don’t want to be weak and let the devil reap
I don’t want to weep or be dragged down deep

Cleaning out the clutter
Easy on the butter
Will I be a mother?
Will I find a lover?
Giving my stuff to the charity shop
There’s so much rubbish
I am in shock
Music fills the house
I feel like a collecting mouse
Just one drop of stardust
Is there really a time for us?
I’ve decided to look at the stars
I wish I could walk on mars
Put the stars in a vase

It feels like I am behind bars
Watching passing cars

Love me,
Where will I find love?
Will it be found in a good man?
Will it be found in a baby’s hand?
Will it be in a scented flower?
Will it be found chatting on the phone for hours?
Will it be in a kiss?
Will it be found in one last wish?

The Truth is .....

The truth is….I want me back

Getting thinner?
What’s for dinner!!!

Cause you gave me all your love
And it turned to rain and fog

I will rise and go,said the ocean

Feathers kissing the ground not making a sound

I curl up and sleep, autumn roars

‘Trees trial their skirts at the river edge’-John poetry class

Walkers linger and chat

I just want it to stop
Too generous with chocolate

How do I say it
You know that I pray it
How do I tell you
I breathe and I smell you
My breasts swell around you
As I dress,I want you
But I do not want to haunt you

The piano is singing
The love of a good man

Has he got time for you?
Does he come and find you?

Stars turning into lights directing
Like an airport runway

I want to feel strong
Eat right,travel
And do it on my own
Go across the pond
And feel forever young
I want to dream a song
Sit on an amethyst throne
I need to belong
I want to get away from the voices
Get a little sun,meet someone
I want to be well enough to have a baby
I want to be kissed a hundred times daily
I want to see purple in the sky
I don’t want the rain,I don’t want to sigh
I want to sing like an owl flies

When I sleep I don’t rest
I am a lone bird looking for a nest
I am in hell,it’s a test
I can hardly breathe
I am being pressed

Every sunset
I hold out my hand
I have this image of us in the sand

Every sunrise
I can feel the warmth on my eyes
You whisper words and my heart just flies

I want to be the girl that sings
Spreads her wings
I want to be the girl that slims
And actually wins
Instead,I am paying for my sins
Looking up at sequins
Dreaming of fountains and mountains
I imagine being a heroine

Carrying a suitcase of emotion

Thoughts on today

Still dreaming and feeling dead
I am alive,I am not dead
Still praying and staying tough
Please take me out of these cuffs

Ask yourself
Is it love or is it stuff?
Is it just attraction and looking buff?
Is he enough?

New York

I want to bite the Big Apple
Look around the Gospel Chapels
I want to see Time’s Square
The smell of hotdogs in the air
I want to shop at Bloomingdales
Find lot’s a bargains,hit the sales!
I want to travel on the subway
Catch a show on Broadway
I want to go up the Empire State Building
Buy a bagel with a cream cheese filling!
I want to go up the Statue of Liberty
Pray for New Yorkers in poverty
I want to go on a helicopter ride
Make sure I see everything in the tourist guide!
I want to see a sunset on Central Park
I want to see the whole city lit up when it goes dark
I want to go to China town
Find a beautiful flowing gown
Or go for coffee at Starbucks and
Watch that one with the looks!
I want to go on a horse and cart
Visit museums of history and art
I want to take the train to Niagara Falls
And see lots of Montreal
I want to take a yellow cab,a limosine
I want to live the dream
I want to go to a Fashion show
Go to New York when its heavy snow

New York at Christmas
See the city glow

Autumn

Where is my warm coat?
I wonder,can I make one from
The falling leaves?
The colour of conkers falling from the trees

All the children are walking to school
Through the gold and treasure,
Kicking the leaves in windy weather
The wind has stopped holding its breath
And the leaves are like howling ghosts

I hold a leaf in my hand,it’s a autumn moment
A silent moment,and vibrant
When a squirrel runs across the road,
There is excitement

Every tree has enchantment
Every bird is singing in commandment
Hats and scarfs, hot soups and hot baths
Hot water bottles and reading novels
Coffee on the run, putting the heating on
Feeling bad for the postman bringing parcels
Looking at the sky for Guy Fawkes sparkles
Going on the park for bonfire night
Going trick or treating and giving a fright
Getting stuck in the mud
Putting up your hood
Using a umbrella
Picking out the leaves that have turned yella!
Walking in totally wet
Leaving our shoes on the step
Putting the fire and your slippers on
Making hot chocolate for everyone
When you go shopping on the high street
Leaves always get under your feet
Your eyes watch them twirl around
Turning into different shapes
Sticking to windows and windscreens
Under the cloudscape
I want to jump in a pile of leaves
I know just the place
