Summer girl

Notes and Poems
By Lisa Howarth

Tuesday 24th June 14

Summer girl

The sun shines in
And I want to go out!

Holidays

Sounds of a distant flute
The taste of passion fruit

When is my next kiss?
Will I have a next kiss?

Movement in the trees
Swaying in the seas

The Sun

My breathing lungs
The clothes hung
On the washing line

Dreaming of a car
Dreaming of a star

Dreaming that you are not too far

Japanese and Chinese see
Butterflies as symbols of joy and longevity

‘Fluttering souls’

A symbol of beauty and dignity,
The peacock is said to drive evil away.
Peacocks dance when they see beautiful women

‘The stars rhymed’-Rita Dove

‘Aglow on velvet’-Rita Dove

Summer

Ice cream for all
The whole sky is yours
An ice cream smile!

‘The wages of living are sin,
And the wages of sin are love,
And the wages of love are pain
And the wages of pain are philosophy’-Rita Dove

No songs of sorrow
A song of a brighter tomorrow

Africa sighing for water and
We have layers of clouds

Sophie’s silk cheek
She loves to play hide and seek!

As a child I loved choosing
Buttons and bows on the market

‘Purple clouds like irises’-Suyata Bhatt

‘Sanctuary lamp’-Gillian Clarke

‘Whose hair is yellower than torchlight’-Sappho

Faces of kids queuing for ice cream!

‘Kiss kiss love love’-Paula Meehan

A travellers sunset
Like a filmset
I think of my holidays in Somerset

‘How really wonderful it is
To see the sky so blue
The clouds have gone
The rain has stopped
And all because of you’-J.Jones

‘I’ll listen to the lark’-J.Jones

‘The long soft grass, between our toes
Then,the cooling running water
Of the stream splashing over our feet’-CF.Hauxwell

Fireworks

‘Tiny fragments that sparkle like stars’-Tina Rooney

Wishing stars had wings
Wishing every child had swings

The Windmill,Lytham beach
An ice cream and a slice of peach!

You are an lumination of words

Angelic light

To love the feeling of a place
To love the feel of your face

Gods cosmic work

‘The sheep in yonder meadow
Their fleece as soft as silk’-Flo E Smith

The old ice cream place
Watching my sisters face!

Spring for eternity
Love and stupidity

You killed me
You bled me of my life

‘Watch the flower blooming,a new-born lamb’-David Arran

‘In breathing rooms,
Their marshmallow heads
In pillowed sleep’-Ian Barton

Look at the sky
Pink all across
The sun in the month of July

Buildings look black against the
Blue and pink sky
There is a peace
A joyful look

Love?

Start with palms and arms

Charm
Do not harm

Home
Love
Hearts
Delight

You feel warm when you open the front door

House of sweet content
Please, no punishment

‘Tears of blood fell from his heart’-R.Greene

‘Leaves to thy soft lays’-J.Milton

A flaming heart

‘A heart as sound and free’-R.Herrick

Rules of good
Leave of destiny
Satiny or Mountainy?

I am purple and honest
With a tuneful heart

‘A voice as of the cherub-choir’-T.Gray

Purely wings
He is not purely wings

Mysterious stream

I will follow you and dream
